The SIMATIC S7-1200 G2 is the next generation of Siemens' popular compact PLC family, designed for basic to mid-range automation. It delivers significantly enhanced performance with double the working memory, improved processing speed, and expanded communication options compared to the original S7-1200.
Key improvements over the first generation include integrated machine safety (up to SIL 3 / PLe), advanced motion control for single and coordinated axes, NFC-enabled wireless diagnostics, a built-in web server, and a 20–30% reduction in power consumption. The S7-1200 G2 is programmed using the TIA Portal engineering framework and supports a wide range of signal modules, communication modules, and technology boards for flexible system expansion. |
Note: The S7-1200 G2 is not hardware-compatible with original S7-1200 signal modules or signal boards. It uses a new, narrower form factor (20mm narrower, 25mm taller). Existing S7-1200 programs can be migrated to G2 using TIA Portal. Contact us if you are planning a migration or new project.
